Food Grade Stainless Steel Oven Trolleys for Commercial Kitchens
Blog | September 14th, 2018After a while, commercial kitchens will need to replace or upgrade their kitchenware, counter spaces, tables, and trolleys. Large commercial kitchens often have various types of trolleys that they use, such as stock trolleys, catering trolleys, standard 2-tier and 3-tier kitchen trolleys, and oven trolleys.
Most types of trolleys are readily available for purchase, and these can be used effectively even if they are not consistent in size and dimensions. However, when it comes to oven trolleys, these are often made to accommodate specific types of rotary ovens. For certain models of rotary ovens, oven trolleys need to meet specific dimensions to fit correctly inside the ovens.
Because it can be difficult to locate a supplier that have the exact size of oven trolleys needed, it is advised that commercial kitchens have them custom fabricated.
Aluminium and Stainless Steel Oven TrolleysÂ
Not all manufacturers of commercial kitchen trolleys use the same grade stainless steel, and it is not uncommon for oven trolleys ordered online to be of lesser than food grade stainless steel. There are even aluminium oven trolleys available, and although these are cheaper and lighter than their stainless steel counterparts, the main disadvantage of aluminium oven trolleys is that these are unable to handle higher temperatures.
Lower grade aluminium oven trolleys could even melt or bend under higher temperatures, thus altering their shape. Because of this, the use of aluminium oven trolleys is limited in commercial kitchens. With that said, versatile, busy commercial kitchens prefer to use food grade stainless steel for all of their trolleys, as well as kitchen tables and countertops.
Commercial Kitchens and Food Grade Stainless Steel Oven Trolleys
Stainless steel oven trolleys can withstand higher temperatures than aluminium oven trolleys, and will not bend or become distorted under extreme heat. The only disadvantage of stainless steel oven trolleys is that these cost more than aluminium trolleys.
The grade of stainless steel is also an important consideration when purchasing oven trolleys, that is because there are strict health requirements for commercial kitchens. Stainless steel kitchen equipment, tables, and any trolleys used to carry food needs to be constructed of food grade stainless steel.
There are hundreds of varieties of stainless steel, but not all grades qualify as a food-grade steel alloy by the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system. Stainless steel grades between 300 to 400 meet the food-grade requirements established by HACCP.
